Phone:
Home: (210) 832-9411
Cell: (512) 626-3559
Email: carolcm@sbcglobal.net
Web: www.prisonfellowship.org

Description of Agency:
Prison Fellowship partners with local churches across the country to minister to a group that society often scorns and neglects: prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families. This ministry reaches out both as an act of service to Jesus Christ and as a contribution to restoring peace to our cities and communities endangered by crime.

Opportunities:

  • Prison visitation ministries in local prisons, leading and helping with seminars developed by PFM including Life Plan Seminars, Marriage Seminars, Bible Studies, and Christian Living Seminars. These seminars are regularly offered to inmates in the San Antonio area prisons. The classes include how to be a responsible employee, parenting from prison, and other basic, life subjects taught from a Christian perspective. The seminars are usually one or two days long and are scheduled over a weekend.
  • Becoming a Christian mentor for a Christian ex-offender (a prisoner getting out of prison). PFM will train you to serve as a mentor. Most of us can remember a teacher, coach, or neighbor who believed in us and helped us believe in ourselves. That is exactly what returning offenders need, yet most have never had someone like that in their lives. Mentors can fill that void. As a mentor, you can demonstrate the love of Christ by letting a returning inmate know that the Christian community is invested in his or her success (Matthew 25:35-46).
