“Friendsgiving” is a term used to describe a Thanksgiving celebration with friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. separate from your traditional Thanksgiving meal. We’re encouraging community groups and individuals to host friendsgiving in their home as a way to share a good meal, good conversation and good news with those around you.
Each host gets to pick their own date to host their friendsgiving dinner party! You can pick any date between now and November 22.
Nope! Anyone is welcome to host a friendsgiving dinner party. You can invite your group, your neighbors, your co-workers – anyone who may or may not know Jesus is welcome!
We’ve tried to make hosting simple and easy for you. Once you register to host a friendsgiving, pick up your Host Kit in the bookstore anytime you’re at CBC – just give them your registration name. Inside your Host Kit will be some helpful information to host the best Friendsgiving dinner party ever!
So glad you asked! Each Host Kit comes with: Invitations and envelopes to send out to your invited guests, a set of candles and a QR code to create the perfect ambiance for your dinner party, and a convo starter card to get your crew chatting the night away!
Each Friendsgiving host can make this decision, but we encourage you to allow your guests to provide a side dish or dessert of their choice. This helps create a family atmosphere and allows everyone to contribute!
Not at all! Each host can design their friendsgiving dinner party to look however they want. Want pizza? Sushi? A bowl of chili and cornbread? We’re here for all the delicious dinner possibilities!
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local churches around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S. To learn more about OCC, visit samaritanspurse.org/occ
Box pick-ups are located in various spots in the CBC Main Lobby. Drop-off is located in the very center of the CBC Main Lobby in front of the giant OCC banner.
Each shoebox is unique, and that’s what makes it so special for the child receiving the box! You get to pick your gender preference (boy or girl) and age preference (3-5, 6-9 or 10-14) and then pack your shoebox with approved school supplies, toys, hygiene items and anything else you think of! See a suggested list of shoebox items and also what NOT to include.
Unfortunately, no. Operation Christmas Child and Samaritan’s Purse do a phenomenal job with partnering strategically with local churches to distribute boxes, so rest assured your box will get in the hands of the exact child who is meant to receive it. God’s got this!
CBC boxes have been delivered, but not limited to, the following countries: Mexico, Lesotho, Gabon, Madagascar, Haiti, Togo, Tanzania, Belize, Jamaica, Ecuador, Pacific Islands, and a few “Special Access” countries.
