Care & Support

The LORD hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
he rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Psalm 34:17, 18

Everyone faces tough times in their lives. Everyone. Jesus even told us “here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.” It’s the nature of this fallen world. When the hard stuff happens, when you feel lost and alone, when you are up against something you cannot handle on your own, Community Bible is here to help you through it.

Sometimes a group setting is the most beneficial, such as with 12-step recovery, divorce care, or grief support. Other times, you may need one-on-one assistance or counseling, like when making funeral arrangements or when dealing with mental health issues. Whatever your struggle, CBC provides support through a network of ministries with trained volunteers and professional and community resources.

Don’t go it alone. Let us walk with you through the valley and, with Jesus, guide you to the other side. That’s what community is all about.

None of us are immune to life’s challenges. We are here to offer you support when you are struggling, hurting or confused. If you or someone in your life are considering suicide, this is a life threatening emergency. Please contact 911 for assistance with suicidal thoughts or for any mental health or medical emergency.

If you would like to speak with a counselor about a crisis in your life, please call us at (210) 253-5971 Monday – Thursday 8am-5pm. If you need to reach a pastor during non-business hours please call 210-496-5096.

Sometimes a class setting is ideal for the type of growth or encouragement you are seeking. Maybe you want help realizing God’s specific purpose for your life. Our Care & Support ministry suggests starting with the Who You Are class for personal growth that is offered on Tuesday evening and Thursday morning. Or perhaps you’re interested in interacting with other couples through our marriage enrichment class.

Sometimes you just need to talk to someone one-on-one in order to work through a difficulty in life. CBC has lay counselors, trained volunteers ready to lend a compassionate listening ear and sound biblical advice, who are available to meet with you in your time of need.

If you feel you need to speak with a professional, we can refer you to a counselor, psychologist or psychiatrist. Anyone we recommend has been carefully screened and assessed according to their abilities, expertise, quality of care and genuine Christian values. You can rest assured you will be given godly advice and counsel.

At CBC, we believe in the power of prayer! It is not a “last resort” to us, but the first line of defense when anyone in our community has a need. We encourage all our members and attendees to lean on Jesus Christ by taking their needs to him through prayer. We also are available and honored to stand in the gap for anyone who would like our prayer team to take their requests to the Lord. If you would like someone to pray for you, click here.

In the course of a lifetime, we each experience trials, traumas and tragedies. In some cases, they are circumstantial, brought on by no fault of our own. Just a part of life. In other cases, we suffer because of decisions we have made. No matter the cause of the hurt, we are in need of healing.

Recovery and Support Groups offer encouragement and hope for the hurting and a safe place for them to find God’s help and healing. Realizing you are not alone and that others are dealing with the same struggles is comfort in itself. Additionally, the members of each group lend one another support as they work through their difficulties.

Various groups are available, from medical to relational support. Click below for a complete list and to find the one that will meet your needs.
