To provide a safe and helpful resource for those struggling with the pain and hurt of separation or divorce. DivorceCare is a ministry provided by Church Initiative in Wake Forest NC. They have been producing the video series since 1993 and CBC has been offering this ministry for many years. Church Initiative principles provides the curriculum for this support group at CBC. Our vision at CBC is that “By using sound biblical principles, we create a warm, caring, and trusting group atmosphere where healing can occur and lives can be changed.”

To join DivorceCare, please go to CommunityBible.com/, click on “groups”, then click on then “Care & Support” tab, now type “DivorceCare” in the “Search for…” box. Scroll down and click on the group you would like to join, and complete the registration form. A workbook is required and directions to purchase it are provided during registration.

No. The primary focus of a Bible study is to understand God and His truths by reading, considering, and discussing scripture. On the other hand, Divorce Care is based on scripture but focuses on life-application of Biblical truths that results in relational and spiritual healing and growth. Scripture is included in these studies to reveal and emphasize Biblical basis. The videos and discussion are aimed at using grace, truth, and time to help in your healing and enhance spiritual maturity in you heart.

Our hope is that you attend all 13 sessions of the DivoreCare semester. While participants are allowed to join the group at any time in the semester, a certification of completion (if requested) may only be generated to those who have completed a majority of the classes. Completion is determined by the group facilitator’s recommendation to the Director.



Yes. It is common for participants, especially those who joined late in the semester, to return for the next semester. There are usually three semesters per year (spring, summer, and fall).

Each class uses videos and workbooks. Videos are presented at each class and are usually 40 minutes in length. you can follow along with your required workbook which provides space for your own note-taking.

No. Only paper materials are permitted in groups.

At the beginning of the study you will review a “CBC Care & Support Group Covenant” which addresses many of the expectations in fie areas: Commitment, Listening, Confidentiality, Sharing, and Honoring/Respecting Others. Additional expectations are addressed during the registration process, at opening night, and during the study. At the beginning of each semester, the members of each group sign a copy of the “Covenant” to reflect their responsibility and accountability to each other.

No. Participants with personal relationships are not permitted in the same small group. They may watch the video with you but may not participate in the group discussion. Visitors are never allowed.

Yes. Nearly all communications to participants are done via email (from the Director, your facilitator, etc.). If you don’t have access to email, you must have someone to handle emails on your behalf.

The “Covenant”covers this topic in depth. These studies are provided to promote spiritual relational growth. Responsible sharing is a key element of that growth process.

No. The only materials that can be distributed and/or used in the studies are the videos, books, workbooks, Bibles, and items provided by the Director.
