Support Groups

The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help.
He rescues them from all of their troubles.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.
Psalm 34:17-18

Everyone faces tough times in their lives. Everyone. Jesus even told us, “here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows.” It is the nature of this fallen world. When the hard stuff happens, when you feel lost and alone, when you are up against something you cannot handle on your own, Community Bible Church is here to help.

Sometimes a group setting is the most beneficial, such as with 12-step recovery, divorce care, or grief support. Other times, you may need one-on-one assistance or counseling, like when making funeral arrangements or when dealing with mental health issues. Whatever the struggle, CBC provides support through a network of ministries with trained volunteers as well as professional and community resources.

Don’t go it alone. Let us walk with you through the valley, and with Jesus, guide you to the other side. That’s what community is all about.

DivorceCare
Separation and divorce can be one of life’s most painful, stressful experiences—a time of deep confusion, shame, and isolation. Overcome challenges and rebuild your life in a safe, supportive environment with others who have “been there.” Meets Tuesdays, 6:30pm, by semester.

GriefShare
If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, sometimes it’s hard to feel hopeful about the future. Finding others who understand may also be a challenge, leading you to isolate. Let a caring community encourage and support you on your healing journey. Meets Tuesdays, 6:30pm, by semester.

Foundational Growth Series

Congratulations on taking this step towards your spiritual and relational growth! We offer the following 13-week growth groups:

Changes That Heal (required first growth group in the series): In this growth group you learn the keys to a fulfilling life and healthy relationships. It focuses on the following four elements: (1) bonding with others, (2) boundaries, (3) sorting out issues of good and bad, and (4) taking charge as an adult. (offered each semester)

Boundaries: This growth group provides a doorway of understanding and freedom for those who have allowed themselves to be buried in the inability to say “no”. (offered each semester)

Safe People: This growth group equips people to avoid the pain of toxic relationships, find individuals who make them better by presence in their lives, and how to contribute to healthy relationships with others. (only offered in the spring)

Hiding From Love: In this 13-week closed, small group, Dr. John Townsend helps you to explore the hiding patterns you’ve developed in dealing with your emotions and guides you toward the healing grace and truth that God has built into safe, connected relationships. (only offered in the fall)

The Foundational Growth Series provides value through supportive small-group interaction. Before registering for one of these growth groups, Please consider the following expectations:

  • Are you willing to share your feelings, pain, and grief openly?
  • Are you willing to listen purposefully to others?
  • Are you willing to handle everything discussed with total confidentiality?
  • Are you willing to invest the time required (as much as five hours per week) for the reading and homework assignments?
  • Are you willing to commit to attend each of the thirteen growth group sessions?
  • Are you willing to purchase a book and workbook for the growth group?
  • Are you willing to accept and sign a covenant with your fellow growth group members, committing to engage with them in a fashion that fosters spiritual and relational growth?

If you are not currently willing to commit to these expectations, we encourage you to consider other support and recovery options by clicking here.

Registration is required for these groups as they have a limited capacity. You will not be able to register if the growth group is full. Attending the orientation session is required and failure to attend may cause your registration to be in jeopardy because it is our method for placing participants in a specific growth group. You MUST respond to the additional email in order to secure registration (Contact us at careandsupport@cbc.email CBC if you do not receive that email.)
