Dilley, TX—Kairos Prison Ministry

Kairos Prison Ministry’s vision is to foster a community spiritually freed from the effects of imprisonment reaching all impacted by incarceration, through the love, hope, and faith found in Jesus Christ.

In 2005, Kairos began ministry activities in the Dolph Briscoe Unit. The Briscoe Unit is located in the town of Dilley in South Texas. In the Fall of 2006, Kairos conducted Weekend #1, their first 3 ½ day event that hosted 42 residents. Overtime the ministry has grown through the love and support of dedicated volunteers.

A Kairos Weekend is conducted in an institution by a team of volunteers of the same gender as the institution. The Team begins on Thursday evening and ends with a spirit-filled Closing on Sunday. It is only the “starting point” as the Participants are guided through the steps of understanding the Christian life. Each day of the 3½ days of the Weekend has a guiding purpose or focus. The activities for each day are designed to support that day’s purpose. As the day’s activities unfold, a building process is occurring. The Participants are led, step by step, through a growing understanding of the focus for that day.

While this trip is supported by CBC, you will apply and train through Kairos. To participate in this weekend mission, you must attend 4 training meetings conducted by Kairos leadership. For more information on this process, contact the team leader, Steve Hearnell by email or at 210-378-6163.
