Did you know that 64% of born again Christians made that commitment to Christ before their 18th birthday? True, according to a recent study by the Barna Research Group. Wow. That really drives home how vital the ministry of CBC Students is in the lives of the teens who pass through our doors! Because of this, we have zeroed-in on the “reach” part of the CBC mission to “reach, teach and help people in Jesus’ name,” and challenged our students to invite their friends to services, small groups, and camps, where they are sure to hear the gospel. By living out the call of “each one reach one,” we get to see God use our faithfulness to hugely impact the youth of San Antonio for Christ!
Check us out — we would love to meet you and get to know you!
They aren’t little kids anymore, but they aren’t quite teenagers. Students in the “tween” years need worship and Bible study that meets them where they are. Middle school is a transitional time and a great opportunity to help these students solidify their identity in Christ to prepare them for the challenges of high school and beyond.
At CBC Students, we minister to middle schoolers through mid-week and weekend services.
Come get involved — bring your friends and make new friends!
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness…” Yes. We know Dickens was referring to the dawn of the French Revolution here. But, when high school students read these words from the classic novel, we wonder if they don’t relate pretty well. Emotions can be all over the place in these years. And the culture and what is considered acceptable and expected belief and behavior is changing at break-neck speeds. At CBC Students, we want to help high schoolers navigate these sometimes choppy waters, knowing there is an Anchor that does not sway with the wind of the constantly-changing culture.
We are here to love high school students and to help them center their lives on Christ and on God’s Word so that they stay anchored to truth throughout high school, college and adulthood.
We are here to celebrate “the best of times” with you and to have your back during “the worst of times!” Come join us!!
Throughout scripture are references to praising the Lord! And, more specifically, to praising Him with music!
Rise up, O Lord, in all your power. With music and singing we celebrate your mighty acts. Psalm 21:13
At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the Lord with music. Psalm 27:6b
Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good; celebrate his lovely name with music. Psalm 135:3
Because praise through music is so important, CBC Students’ Music and Worship ministry is focused on raising up a new generation of worship leaders. Our goal is to encourage a heart for worship among students by giving them opportunities to use their musical talents for Christ, while having a great time!
We offer several ways for students to lead in worship through music.
Ignite: The 6th & 7th grade choir meets weekly and includes devotions and the development of students’ vocal music skills. They lead worship at CBC and around the community several times a year. No prior musical training is necessary.
PureSound: The 8th-12th grade choir meets weekly and includes devotions and the development of students’ vocal music skills. They lead worship at CBC and around the community several times a year. No prior musical training is necessary.
Amplify: An instrumental music program for middle and high school students, it trains the students to develop their skills in acoustic, bass and electric guitar, keyboards and drums for worship of the Lord. Some prior knowledge of their chosen instrument, including the ability of play basic chords and rhythms is required. Learn more.
